Maya shares her experience creating a library craft program for children with special needs.

More about Maya:

I have been a Girl Scout for about 11 years. I am so grateful I had the opportunity to start my own project as big as this one. Working with children with special needs is something I have always done, so the project takes a special place in my heart because I am able to use my knowledge to make a difference. I think there are so many wonderful organizations that work solely with kids on the spectrum, but I was looking to help create meaningful bonds between peers who are neurotypical and those on the spectrum. I think it is so beneficial for all children to be exposed to different kinds of people who they can learn and grow from. Raising awareness also comes with educating yourself on what you are trying to achieve. I think the kids in the group and supporters I have encountered along the way have taught me so much and I look forward to a new year of crafts!     Instagram: @abilitieswithpossibilities
