Avery shares her experience creating a memorial in her town for victims of a pharmacy shooting, including her fundraising and team.  She also shares her cookie booth tips..

More from Avery:

I have been a Girl Scout since 1st grade, this year makes my 12th year of scouts.  I have been blessed to be able to partake in such a wonderful program. The skills I learned throughout the years are skills I would not have worked on anywhere else. I have done lots of service through Girl Scouts including my Silver and Gold Award. For my Silver Award my troop and I made cat toys out of unneeded baby socks for the cats at the local shelter. For my Gold Award I created a memorial for two shooting victims in my hometown. Girl Scouts has given me great opportunities and experiences that I will never forget.

As well as Girl Scouts, I am part of many other organizations. I was involved in Beta Club, Link Crew, Upward Bound, Art Club, and marching and concert band. I also took many dual enrollment classes, will graduate with State Distinction, and was in the top percentile of my graduating class. Next fall I plan to attend Tusculum University to major in Psychology and eventually earn my Doctorate. I have already been accepted into their honors program and will have academic scholarships as I attend there. I also plan to start my own scout troop after I finish furthering my education.
