Tiara created t-shirt quilts for memory care residents and taught sewing to kids at the Boys and Girls Club.

Tiara Jackson is from Terry, MS, where she currently resides with her parents, brothers, and dog Hope. She is a student at Hinds Community College Utica Campus, majoring in Radio/Television Broadcast Production. Tiara is a freelance writer for Mississippi Free Press and she is the president of the National Association of Black Journalists Hinds Chapter. Once a Girl Scout, always a Girl Scout, Tiara earned her Gold Award, the highest honor a Girl Scout can achieve. Her Gold Award project was called Sewing for the Soul; she made t-shirt blankets for patients in memory care and she also taught girls how to sew at the Boys and Girls Club as well. Tiara is currently Miss Hinds Community College and her platform is the Lupus Foundation. Tiara will be using her platform to help those who have lupus in need and to solve the mystery of lupus. During her free time she enjoys hiking, kayaking, and watching horror movies. Her favorite quote is “Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die.
